Panama is a commercial empire! It seems that every videographer grapples with the dilemma of how to price his or her services. Deciding the right price range will largely determine what kind of customers your business attracts and most importantly, how much cash flow your video services will produce. Starting a video production company is very costly and bad pricing can keep your business in the black if you don’t do it correctly. What criteria should you consider when choosing the price for your services?First, how much money do you need to make to at least break even with the expenses of your business? Don’t forget to consider taxes and any insurance you may be paying. On top of those costs you have energy and phone bills, marketing expenses, and payments on equipment maintenance and upgrades.Second, once you know how much you must make per month, I suggest you double it. That way you’ll be able to make your efforts worth your time and meet your expenses. Too many businesses are battling for the low “bargain-oriented” customers and undercut themselves on the cash flow level because they don’t value their own services.Third, how demanding is your market? If your local market can’t support the price you determined in step two, you need to find a way to market your services to high spenders or cut your expenses. I recommend the first option. Marketing your services to people or businesses who have money to spend will save you effort in trying to haggle with cheap customers who don’t value your services for what they are really worth.Fourth, make it easy for your customers to pay you. If your buyer relies on American Express and you only take Visa and Mastercard then you lose the sale. There are so many different payment options nowadays that there is no excuse for someone not to be able to pay nor for you not to have some method available that your customer can use. Consider online processors like Paypal, Stormpay, or Egold for example. Merchant fees for taking credit cards are so inexpensive that every business should be able to pay them, but no business can afford not to accept credit cards. If you have a customer who wants your service but insists that they don’t have any means of paying your price at the moment, provide financing. Create an account for them and simply divide the payments over the course of a few months. Have a very simple and clear written agreement that you can mail or fax so that the buyer knows e The Free Trade Zone (Colon City) in the Republic of Panama is the second most important trade center of the World after Hong Kong. I asked the friendly cabin crew member for a ‘comment card’ and a pen.She handed me a pen from her pocket that read ‘Narita Tokyu Hotel’ and said she would look for a comment card, but wasn’t sure if there were any aboard. She returned a few moments later and handed me an airline writing kit with three postcards, two envelopes, and two sheets of airline stationery in an attractive blue folder. And she confirmed there were no comment cards aboard.I thought that was odd. Simple comment cards are cheap to print, easy to use, and fast to hand out and collect. The fancy writing kit costs the airline much more, yet it doesn’t help solicit customer feedback.Stranger still was the pen: ‘Narita Tokyu Hotel’?‘Don’t you have any airline pens?’ I asked. She blushed and replied ‘No. We used to carry them, but we don’t any more. But passengers still ask us for pens all the time, so we take extra ones from the hotels where we stay.’‘Really?!’ I laughed. ‘The airline installed these great new seats and hands out fancy writing kits, but doesn’t carry inexpensive plastic pens on board for passenger use?’She grinned sheepishly and brought me a sample of what the airline does provide for Business Class passengers who wish to write: a small golf pencil. About three inches long, these little blue pencils are sharp as a tack and emblazoned with the airline’s name and logo in white.I am sitting in a world-class airline seat. I can get a classy, expensive writing kit just by asking. But if I seek a ballpoint pen, the airline gives me a tiny pencil made for golf.A cost-savings effort was to blame. I'm talking about a retracement back to the high or low. Too often I have regretted chasing the market, even for less than a full point. These expenses add up when getting in and out. Most good moves with the trend last about three to four points or so before a minor correction. If you give up a point getting in and a point getting out and add in commissions for e-minis future contracts [which are high for contract size anyway] then you are left with a little under two points net profit. Factor in the losing trades and you are going to be a break-even trader. There are many break-even e-mini futures traders out there. You must learn to stick your hand in the fire at the price extremes to get an edge on the competition.Observation:"Day trade only while watching the action.” There was a time in the mid 90's when I couldn’t take the pressure of watching the futures market after I got in. I would sometimes do emotional things that sabotaged the trade, even if it was a winner. The first correction, even when still profitable would get me out often at break-even after expenses. Of course, the market would continue on favorably without me.I then tried putting in a stop below my entry by 2-3 points and take a walk in the woods for the expected duration of the trend. I would come back 45 minutes later and sometimes see tremendous profits. And other times I would see that I had a great profit, but the market had reversed and came all the way back down to entry. Bottom line is that I decided I needed to find a way to sit on my hands and take the heat in real time.Having TIME objectives helps a lot here. Price action is what everyone watches and it will make you crazy. E-mini price action is only “accurate” and means something at the tops and bottoms. During the move there are many fake outs.
