They should consult with you about your needs and wishes regarding the event or events you would like to see occur. Through the course of conversations with them, they should be able to discern exactly what is What I know for sure is that it takes a certain amount of guts to think about Unworking. Hard work is a potent anesthetic that like any addiction numbs us to life. Time to wake up. Let me be clear that Unwork isn't about being lazy. The Most Important Management Rule With apologies to Byron Katie's important 'Work,' I've been using the phrase Unwork quite a bit lately to help foster the premise that working hard is NOT the way to riches or happiness. There are many management rules, but most of them are locked behind bars. It is very risky to whisper about management rules; it is even more hazardously to be open about management rules. This rule however is harmless, yet effective. It is so simple, that most people forget to use it.To perceive the strength of it you only have to think about some of the latest issues, either private or business, you have been dealing with regarding spending money on different presents or small investments. You had for example 100 dollars to spend. Your budget. Then you went shopping and you started buying. Just before closing hour you saw this remarkable present. In fact you were looking for it for some longer time, but you had forgotten about it.And then you remembered that you had spend 95% of you budget. And this particular item needed a lot more than the five percent that was left in your pocket. So now you will say, “We can borrow!”No you cannot. And this is not because of the already huge deficit problems and a possible breakdown of the dolla For some people working hard is a license to feel justified about complaining. Or feeling self-important. For others it's a way to pull the wool over their eyes about the fact they aren't succeeding - they're doing everything they can, aren't they? Exhaustion is the proof of this statement. It can't be their fault because they're trying so very hard. Still others are subconsciously using hard work as a way to avoid something. Could it be fear of success? or almost any other fear/feeling? I've been exposed to enough variations on the theme of hard work that I feel I can say with confidence: The message "Work hard and you'll be rewarded" is MOST useful to people in authority (teachers, parents, church leaders, politicians, etc.) Tired people (adults and children) are less likely to act up. What I know for sure is that it takes a certain amount of guts to think about Unworking. Hard work is a potent anesthetic that like any addiction numbs us to life. Time to wake up. Let me be clear that Unwork isn't about being lazy. Changing Organizations about complaining. Or feeling self-important.Change is not a unique property of the social reality we see around us. In fact, the social reality is constantly changing and this is not experienced as something strange. The social reality, in turn, consists of organizations. If a group of people organize themselves for some purpose, an organization is born. Whether this group of individuals has organized itself to run a company which manufactures a certain product or for social purposes (friendship, charity, etc.), the most important fact is that people are subjected to numerous kinds of organizations in their daily life. Each person organizes part of his or her life, and the remaining part is organized by other forms of organizations. Organizational change is always difficult because behavioral patterns must be completely rearranged. This aspect will result in a tendency to resist change. The question is: how and when do organizations change? In this article three theories of organizational change will be discussed. The first theory is that of Lewin who proposed a theory of change based on empirical data. This theory For others it's a way to pull the wool over their eyes about the fact they aren't succeeding - they're doing everything they can, aren't they? Exhaustion is the proof of this statement. How A Book Pitch Can Grow Your Business heir fault because they're trying so very hard. When someone asks you about what you do, do you have a ready answer? Or do you stumble and stammer trying to explain your business?I was recently at a writer’s conference where one of the main focuses was learning to create a successful book pitch. My instructor emphasized what a good pitch can do for a writer. She explained that when an editor asks an author about their writing project, they have one shot at sharing their pitch and getting the editor excited about their project. A great pitch makes a great first impression and can translate into a book contract. On the other hand, a pitch that is not well thought out can cost an author the chance of selling that project.A good book pitch is a summary of the author’s idea, but more than that it’s a summary with a sizzle. At the conference, I learned that many authors spend hours crafting and memorizing their pitch. Then, when asked about their project, they are able to give a quick, concise synopsis that not only explains their idea, but makes the editor want to learn more.I believe that the concept of cre Still others are subconsciously using hard work as a way to avoid something. Bad Reasons For Quitting A Job of hard work that I feel I can say with confidence:There are various bad reasons for quitting a job, and though each individual's reasons can be far worse than others, quitting a job for a bad or unjust reason, can be detrimental to your resume and employment history. Your resume and employment history is essential to the success and advancement of your career, so you should never take quitting a job lightly. Your employment history proves your stability and dedication to your career, and should be of utmost importance to an individual.A bad reason for quitting a job could be that an individual dislikes their authority figures. Individuals need to realize that no matter who they gain employment with, there are most likely going to be people that they do not care for, but as long as the individual is being treated in the same manner as fellow employees, individuals should not terminate their employment solely for this reason. Many people terminate their employment due to the fact that they have had a conflict with a fellow employee, and that employee is continually trying to cause them turmoil. Though it may sou The message "Work hard and you'll be rewarded" is MOST useful to people in authority (teachers, parents, church leaders, politicians, etc.) Tired people (adults and children) are less likely to act up. What Does Your Calling Card Say About You? act up.Of the four business meetings I have held so far this week; only in one case was the other person able to produce an up to date and informative business card, despite the fact that they were all very senior executivesAs I have said on numerous occasions, a common (and often overlooked) image feature for every would-be business professional, is the business or calling card (the summary information about yourself you choose to give to others).Although there are no hard facts on the subject, it is estimated that 90% of people do not have a calling card at all. In fact the estimated breakdown looks as follows:Of the 10% that do have a calling card:* 25% have an informative card* 35% have cards showing only name, address and phone number* 40% have cards with out-of-date or incorrect informationThis means that only 2.5% of people have a card that is up to date, accurate and gives a reasonably full picture of who they are and what they do.Always Carry Your Calling CardHaving no calling cards (or one that is i What I know for sure is that it takes a certain amount of guts to think about Unworking. And it isn't some fancy way of talking about delegation or time management either. I hate to say it's a kind of 'consciousness' as that's just too floofy for many people to care about, but it is in fact what it is. And...there are specifics that can help you start 'doing' unwork in a concrete way so this isn't all just ethereal stuff.
