    I think I fully came to appreciate this saying when I was in college.

    I was a marathon runner at the time and one day I added up all the miles I had run in a two-year period and realized I had covered 4000 miles!

    That means I could have run from California to St. Louis and back!

    Sounds impossible, right?

    Not if you're only focusing on taking one step at a time.

    Because even though multi-tasking is big these days, you really are most effective if you focus on doing just one thing at a time.

    The "one step at a time" mentality is also the best way I know to tackle what might otherwise appear to be giant, overwhelming tasks.

    I encourage you to take a look at one of those big, overwhelming marketing tasks you're facing, and rather than continue to put it off, identify the very first step you need to take to get it going.

    For example if that task is starting to publish your own newsletter or ezine, maybe your first step is to identify a list management program to help automate that task.

    If that task is trying to figure out how to get more visitors to your website, identify one online marketing avenue (e.g. article marketing, pay per click ads) that is available to you and go online and start learning about it.
