Teachers Pay in the United States , to make a profit and to grow larger as a business that’s why. At least, that’s how it is in a capitalistic society, which I am presupposing. One of the most important positions for the forward progression and ongoing stability of a nation is that of a teacher. If we fail to teach the next generation correctly then all we have done in the present period is lost and will disappear in the next. But we must not only teach kids to memorize to get the desired answer, we need to teach them to think, fore there will be critical events in the future some of which we have not properly foreseen, which they will have to figure out for the So, can you see how the two concepts are linked? Can you see how the very act of marketing is also investing? Now, let’s take Pitching to Employees Let’s take a break for a minute from the flashy TV ads and the phone calls at dinner time asking us to change long distance plans. The senior flight attendant on the WestJet flight was starting the routine safety talk: the bit about flotation vests and emergency exits that we ignore at the beginning of every flight.“If we could have your attention, please, we would appreciate it - in fact we’d be downright shocked,” she said. The passengers and the rest of the crew laughed along with her and then, having captured our attention, she went on with her instructions. That event, on my second flight with the a Let’s put away and forget everything we know about marketing just for a second, just long enough to see it from another angle, because in a minute I want to show you how to look at marketing and investing that will change your life forever. To start, how do we define the two terms: marketing and investing? Well, investing is defined as “to commit something (usually money) in order to obtain a financial return.” But the word is based from the word investire in Latin, which means “to clothe, or to cover, gain control of something.” So investing is all about gaining control over something in order to obtain a return correct? Okay, now let’s examine what marketing means. Marketing is defined as “the total of activities involved in the transfer of goods from the producer or seller to the consumer or buyer, including advertising, shipping, storing, and selling.” But why on earth would someone want to transfer their goods to a consumer? To make money, to make a profit and to grow larger as a business that’s why. At least, that’s how it is in a capitalistic society, which I am presupposing. So, can you see how the two concepts are linked? Can you see how the very act of marketing is also investing? Now, let’s take Time Management Tips for Managers te I want to show you how to look at marketing and investing that will change your life forever.Late last year I was presenting a workshop for the senior managers of a major organisation. Whilst doing a pre-workshop survey to assess the challenges these managers were experiencing it became very apparent to me that many of them were showing the signs of business burn-out. And it was no wonder why. They were suffering from 'Priority Problems'. Quite simply they were making the mistake of doing the urgent rather than the important tasks. They were working extremely long hours, wi To start, how do we define the two terms: marketing and investing? Now, let’s take Children At Work: Looking at Child Labor in the Victorian Age the word is based from the word investire in Latin, which means “to clothe, or to cover, gain control of something.”Today, it isn’t that uncommon for some children and teenagers to work. They may earn extra money by baby-sitting, doing yard work, or maybe even walking dogs. Others, once they go on to high school, may go to work in their local grocery store, malls, or food chains. However, in the Victorian Age, it wouldn’t seem at all strange to see children as young as five or six, go to work full-time (sometimes sixteen hours a day!) in often dangerous conditions. As you read, ask yourself qu So investing is all about gaining control over something in order to obtain a return correct? Now, let’s take The Wonder Down Under: Unusual Exports s defined as “the total of activities involved in the transfer of goods from the producer or seller to the consumer or buyer, including advertising, shipping, storing, and selling.”My husband and I attended the Edmonton Home Renovation Show in January (we just bought a new home) and spent some time at a booth with low volume flush toilets. We try to do our part for the environment and were considering a model that has two flush options.I was reading the company literature and noticed that these toilets, "The Wonder from Down Under" were manufactured in Australia. I checked with the salesman and yes indeed, they are imported into Canada all the way from Bris But why on earth would someone want to transfer their goods to a consumer? At least, that’s how it is in a capitalistic society, which I am presupposing.Part OneThe miss conception is that it is the billions of ideas that pops into peoples minds all over the globe that make money. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but very few ideas are worth the time it took for the thought to manifest itself. Most ideas are nothing more than fleeting 'sparks' of inspiration that go no place and are forgotten within minutes. Some may last until the next day if your lucky. The unfortunate truth is that most of the ideas that are So, can you see how the two concepts are linked? Can you see how the very act of marketing is also investing? Now, let’s take a page out of the book of the most famous and ridiculously rich investor, Warren Buffett. You know him; he is the king of marketing. He above everyone else, understands how investing and marketing are linked. What’s important about his style of investing is that he doesn’t hold the charts, graphs, market capitalization, and the other technical business statistics with the same importance as does Wall Street. In fact, he snubs Wall Street by looking at the fundamentals of the marketing aspects of a business. Let’s examine them; there are only 3 real big ones: 1) He understands that you shouldn’t fight the market. If people all of a sudden wanted Pogo Sticks instead of Coca-Cola, then he would look at that company. He looks for winners and products that market must have. 2) He understands that in order to protect a future investment, the product must have a high profit margin – in other words, it cannot have a lot (or any) competition. He calls this a “consumer monopoly.” A product that can ride through the ups and downs of a roller coaster economy and still retain healthy margins.
