They’re everywhere. The bigger, the brighter, the bolder, and the tackier- the better. They’re red hats, and they’ve become a staple of the retail landscape over the course of the past few years thanks to the Red Hat Society. The Red Hat Society is the latest craze sweeping the over-50 female population with a single guiding purpose- to have fun. That includes bold purple dresses, big red hats, and social functions where the members meet and share the common joy of aging. With the Red Hat Society comes new retailer interest in hats. The Red Hat Society has basically created a market of hat collectors, seemingly overnight. But with everyone and their brother trying to c

Branding And Image: Are You Just Another Amateur?
With the popularity and ease of use of desktop publishing, every employee can and usually creates and designs his/her own letters, presentations and virtually every document he o she needs to pass to a coworker, customer, etc. But the question is: Is everybody trained and capable of doing it in a manner that is aligned with the company’s image and goal? Is your business being consistent? or are you just another amateur?Coherency and harmony should always be present in all the information conveyed about your business. People learn by repetition. They have done so since they were born and they will continue the same way forever. Once they learn, they don’t have to “think” abo
Did you know there's something you do every single day that you could be using as an opportunity to market your business?

    What is it?

Sending email. How many email messages do you send in a day? I recently went back and counted the messages in my Sent folder. I use several email accounts, but in just one of them I found an average of 10-12 messages a day. That's 70-84 message per week!

    Two Chances for Free Promotion

Did you realize every time you send out an email, you have two opportunities to market your business?

    #1 With Your Email Address

Take a look at the email address you're using for business. Are you using an email address such as "crazyjane@yahoo.com" or "fitbodyhunk@hotmail.com"?

Okay, so I'm poking a bit of fun, but you'd be surprised at some of the email addresses I see. Granted some of them may be reserved for ezine subscriptions, but I also receive a lot of email from small business owners with these types of email addresses.

    So what's wrong with this?

Well, for one, they are missing out on a free marketing opportunity. When you use an email address such as debbie@10stepmarketing.com you have the opportunity to get repeat exposure for your company name with every email you send out.

You Can Build Your Brand and Business

What, everyone you send email to already knows your business name? That's okay. It's good reinforcement. And it doesn't cost a dime, so why not do it? Plus, it presents a much more professional image. It says you are a real business. Even if you are sending out your emails while wearing your pajamas in your home office. :-)

Use Your Web Site Domain Email Addresses

Ideally your web site domain should be the same as your business name. And you web hosting should come with at least a handful of free email addresses. It's fairly easy to set up, but if you're not sure, check with your host. Odds are they've addressed it in their FAQs or online help.

    Credibility In Advertising
I recently saw an ad taped to my mailbox, mind you, my mailbox is shared by many residents of my area. The postal real estate is typically reserved for flyers of lost dogs, cats, small children, etc. This time, however, the ad was soliciting a service which, I feel, requires a personal connection. The ad simply stated: “Affordable, Quality, Licensed, Day Care. Call XXX-XXXX”While I do not have children yet, I can only assume a responsible parent would look at this impersonal solicitation for their young children and laugh. Would you consider trusting this nameless, faceless, credit-less, organization with your children? Maybe some days this would be appealing, but realistic

Marketing Value of Branding, Identity, and Trust
Who will your potential customers call when they want what you sell? Are you the only one they can call, or do you have competition? Do they go to your website, or someone else's? What can you do to encourage these potential customers to choose you instead of your competition? All of those are important questions. And, unless yours is the only business in the world doing what you do, you've got competition. I'd be willing to bet that at least some of your competitors are reaching out, trying to convince your customers to do business with them. Whether your customers do or not will be the result of many factors, but there's a lot you can do to keep them coming to you.'s wrong with this?

Enter The Rich Jerk, a Marketing Odyssey Part 1
The Rich Jerk is a more or less known internet marketer. According to all available information, it appears that until recently, this Rich Jerk was quite content keeping a low profile on the net and enjoying the fruits of his labor. Now that has all changed. From an anonymous internet marketing success, the Rich Jerk has trampled his way in and exploded on the scene, the "You can make tons of easy fast money on the internet" scene, that is.Although I can't comment just yet on the validity of the information contained in the ebook he is selling because haven't bought or read it yet, what I can tell you is that the Rich Jerk has beautifully orchestrated a massive tactic

    Your Title (if appropriate)
    Your Business Name
    Your Tagline
    Your Email Address

    Your Phone Number
    Your Fax Number
    Your Snail Mail Address
An Invitation to Subscribe to Your E-newsletter, Ezine or Receive a Free Report (or any other free information you provide)
