    How Brands Die
Do Brands really die or do they simply fade away? How come we have brand names, which are all the rage and then within a few years the fad fades away? Remember Izod or Alligator Shirts and Socks? Well where are they now? Did you know they are trying to remake themselves and in Europe on their website they now say it is a crocodile? Why not, who cares if that helps them make a strong come back, do what works. You see it is hard to build a brand and often very hard to make a come back, it can be done and it is being done, but it is not as easy as it looks these days as consumers and potential customers are being bombarded with multi-media images, presentations and exposures. Mistakes in advertising and marketing can hurt brands, divide loyalties and over all diminish the brands goodwill and blue sky value on the balance sheet. We all know the popular brands of today and what is hot, how can we not, it is all over everything, everywhere we go! Can you remember the brands of yesterday? Can you predict which brands will be everlasting like the Entergizer Bunny and which will fade into obscurity? For instance with the talking Gecko from Gieko be chatting up a storm with an Australian Accent Achieving Advertising Age’s top Accolades in annual editions?

      Leave the Herd
On the flight home last night from Boston, I sat beside a very nice IT salesman. He was charming, engaging, and quite polished. Though he was an Executive Platinum member with American, he willingly gave up his aisle seat for a young grad student that needed to walk around occasionally due to a medical condition. He and I had a great conversation in which I showed him the Bubble Planner. He was impressed and offered some great insight for marketing on the internet. In addition to this, he offered such sage advice to the new Grad student beside him. It was so simple, yet, so profound that I thought that you would want to hear it as well. What did he say? He said that when she graduated she should consider a less popular industry for people with their MBA. Apparently, the majority of new MBA's choose industries such as Banking, Venture Capitalism, and Consulting. However, he asserted that there was greater promotion potential for people with their MBA in less popular industries. He said that if she selected an industry that has fewer MBA's that she could rise very quickly in the organization. Why Would He Say That? Since the herd is chasing the top companies for MBA's, the top companies are now taking advantage of this. Like the large public accounting firms in the 1980's, these companies are able to work these new graduates for 2-3 years 80-100 hours per week. Once this crop of graduates is burned out, they bring in the new crop. The best of the group move on to the next job as soon as a better opportunity presents itself. Eventually, the average of the group are let go as the compa
Multi-level marketing is really a partnership. You go into business with someone that has the same interests and goals you have. You make a commitment to each other. You work with the same people. Working multi-level marketing correctly not only makes success easier, it eliminates many problems.

The hardest thing is to find the person you want to work with (your sponsor). You want someone who is willing to work and assist you when needed. You should join programs under the same person all the time. This makes for a solid downline. If your sponsor isn't interested in a particular program, contact his sponsor. By doing this, you will strengthen you group.

Many people complain about others stealing their people. They seem to think that just because they signed someone up once, they should always have them. If someone gives their downline the help and assistance they should, there would be no need for them to worry about someone stealing them away. They should want to continue with you because they know you will help them. Why should someone stick with you if all you do is collected commissions from them? Can you really blame them for not following you into other programs?

Take a look at the other side of the "coin". Having the right people in your downline is just as important as having the right sponsor. If someone sponsored you into a program and helped you, don't expect them to sign you in another program if you haven't tried to do anything on you own. Granted, they make money for those they sponsor for you, but why should they make you money if you don't do anything?

Mailing out hundreds of brochures may get you several people in your downline. This may look good on a printout, but what about on a commission check? Would you rather have a printout a foot long with a small check - or a small printout with a large check?

Be choosy in whom you recruit. Let them know what you expect from them and what they can expect from you. Level with them completely about the program you are trying to get them into. Having 2 or 3 good people will make you more money than having 10 or 12 deadbeats.

Don't join every program that comes along. Find one you like and work it. It takes time to build a solid downline. Help your downline and have them do the same. This way everybody will make money. You can't expect to keep your downline if you leave them stranded when you get into profit.

You have to help them get in profit too. They will be more apt to follow you in other programs this way.

Be careful what you promise people. Remember, nothing is guaranteed. Be as honest as you can. Don't tell someone you'll do something if you can't. Offer your help, but guarantee nothing. No matter how good something might seem, it might not work. If you mislead people, how long do you expect to keep them?

Doing things this way may take a little longer, but look at the advantages!

      You have a solid downline.

You don't have to race to the phone or mailbox to be first to contact someone.

Because you are working with the same people, you will get to know them.

You will have a steady income. You don't have to worry about finding new "schemes" and new "victims" every few months.

Actually, four things are needed to be successful in MLM. A good product, a good marketing structure, a good sponsor and a strong downline. The time and money spent to find these four things is well worth it. Don't settle for anything less. To do so will only restrict the goals you can achieve.

Once you have found these four things, it's easy. All you have to do is keep in touch with your 5 or 6 people. If everyone does this, no one will fail. Everybody will be a success.

Why is a Franchisor Mad at the Multi Level Marketing Companies?
Why would a franchise company which has master franchisees in charge of regions and those regions in charge of the franchisees and the franchisees in charge of their stores and each store has a manager in charge of the employees? After all doesn’t that represent 5-levels of marketing? Isn’t franchising the duplication and replication of a business method and brand name? Why would Franchisors be angry at a Multi Level Company which basically in “abstract theory” anyway operates in such a similar way?Well, I am a franchisor so let me explain my beef with this particular situation. You see as a franchisor, I have all these rules of what I can and cannot say. In fact there are some laws, which prohibit things I am allowed to say even if they are true, unless I pay a high priced accountant to do many audits of my franchisees to prove that it is true.If those are violated or rather if a franchise buyer tells the government I told them something that I was not supposed to, whether I did or not is immaterial, they launch an investigation against my company. The franchise buyer may simply be saying that to break his contract with me, so he can use all my life's work to do it on his own and then compete against me, it is your basic traitor syndrome. But what the hell some say, deal with it, Jesus had a traitor in his group too. Think on this in 2006.

11 Ways to Turnaround a Cash-Strapped Business or Practice
This past weekend I received a disturbing message from a dear friend. His business wasn’t generating all the income he needed. He’s exhausted all savings, started depleting credit card reserves and badly needed money to pay this month’s mortgage... Ouch! I wish I knew sooner...Whether it’s pride or just human nature that keeps professionals from asking for help sooner, it’s just plain silly to keep “toughing it out” when there are so many strategies for generating new business fast. You see, there is really no shortage of new business, there is only a shortage of knowledge how to get this business. So if you are one of those professional folks who could use a few hundred bucks to help out with this month’s mortgage, here are a few strategies to get your business buzzing with new customers or clients:1. Get on the phone! Pick up the phone and call everyone you know. Contact all clients, prospects, friends and family. Make sure they all know what you do, who you are looking for as a client, and how to "give you away."2. Get out and meet people! Sitting in the office, shuffling paperwork and piddling around with emails will not take you far enough fast enough. You need to be talking to people who can buy your product or service. Set a goal of how many people you want to see in person every day and find ways to meet that goal!3. Stop competing and start leveraging! Instead of being mad at your competitors for stealing all your business, approach them and offer to help out. At times we all get projects that are too big, too small, or too “whatever” for us to take on.Contact your competitors
