Looking through the Glass Ceiling - Women in Management
Women have made tremendous contributions to society at every level; consider Joan of Arc, Golda Meier, Indira Gandi, Condalezza Rice.In writing this article my attention is to open the eyes of small business and no way patronise female mangement or give offence. In some domains this is still a sensitive and sometimes taboo topic! As a father of 3 grown up young women I am proud to see them have the opportunities that were not available to them 25 years ago and be recognised for the talented individuals they are.Traditionally male dominated bastions have resisted change to include women in male dominated domains. Inspired Marketing Strategies for Un-ordinary Times
Great marketing campaigns begin with great ideas. You cannot simply follow the crowd anymore, capitalizing on what has worked for others. These are not ordinary times.Today's economic and cultural climate calls for extraordinary and imaginative marketing strategies, coupled with targeted publicity campaigns. There are so many media possibilities now that the skilled advertising and PR practitioner must also be skilled in media research and placement. Here in Sedona, Arizona, for example, basically a small town with a population of about 17,000 in its "metro" area, the tourist component creates special challenges for the m
There is a strange human psychological phenomenon in regards to drawing conclusions. If someone tells us exactly what to do, our natural human tendency is to reject it simply because it has been dictated. The solution is to offer your prospects a few options so they can make the choice for themselves.

People feel the need to have freedom and make their own choices. If forced to choose something against their will, they experience psychological resistance and feel a need to restore their freedom. We all need options. Recently, while I was vacationing at a national park, I saw a moose get surrounded by people who wanted a picture of it. Feeling trapped, the moose charged at the people in an attempt to escape. This same scenario can crop up in your persuasive efforts. If you don't offer options to your audience, they could attempt
No More Debate it is Either Global Warming or Global Warming or You are Fired!
Recently a survey was done with Americans to ask them if they believed in global warming and the question was quite simple which do you believe; Global Warming or Global Warming? Surprisingly enough 90% of the people said global warming. A few people didn't understand the question because it did not sound like a choice and therefore they did not answer.Just because 90% of people believe something does not make it true and it is irrelevant to use a survey put on by the mass media hysteria asking the people who have been viewing their programming what they believe. Most people have surrendered their minds to the TV set and obviousl

Inside A Company's News Release, Part Two
Energy Metals Corporation (TSX: EMC.TO) announced it would commence trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Thursday. EMC Chief Executive Paul Matysek’s quote spelled it out, that because of this it would be possible for “… the Company to reach a broader base of individual investors, mutual funds and institutional investors.” In other words, there would be less dependence upon the retail investor, and more reliance on the big funds to pile into EMC shares. Of course, the little guy will join the party as well.Uranerz Energy (OTC BB: URNZ) issued a few telling news releases, which may explain the direction in which they are headi

    Would you Invest?
A friend of mine emailed a photo that was rather shocking. It was a 1978 staff photo of Microsoft Corporation – there are only seven people pictured. In the lower left-hand corner Bill Gates looks about twelve-years-old while in the lower right-hand corner, scraggly bearded fellow multi-billionaire Paul Allen looks like a techie nerd. The email was entitled, “Would You Invest?”When that photo was taken, almost no one, other than those in the largest of businesses and universities had a computer on their desk. Today almost everyone in business uses a computer and we can’t imagine the world without the technology that those seve

The way in which this technique still gives you an advantage is that it gives you control over your prospects' options. As a Master Persuader, you only give them options that will satisfy your situation. We have all done this type of option control with children: "Do you want to finish your dinner or go to bed early?" In sales, they call this strategy the alternative close. For example, have you heard the line "Do you want regular or deluxe?" Or what about "Do you want it in blue or green?" or "Do you want to meet Monday afternoon or Tuesday evening?" The prospect is presented with options, but both options are pleasing to the persuader.
