There are many events outside of the workplace that can negatively impact workplace productivity. A major holiday and major sporting events (like the Super Bowl, World Cup or NCAA Basketball Tournament) are a few of these possible distractions. As people begin to think about, talk about and focus on these events, their focus may leave their work. Think about it: how many tournament brackets are filled out on office time? How much Christmas shopping gets done online at the office every year? This change of focus can lead to significant losses of productivity.

What lessons can we take from these athletes and their experiences that we can apply to job hunting?First of all, being a great athlete is no guaranty of being successful. Professional sports are littered with great athletes who have never one a championship. As a result, it’s important
If you have read Tom Peters’ latest book, Re-imagine!, you know minor improvements are not going to set your business apart in the future. In fact, if you don't get out on the edge, you might not even survive. Forget being 1 percent better than the competition at 100 different things - be great and unique to crush the competition.

Think back five or 10 years ago. Who would have predicted people would pay $4 for a cup of coffee? Fast-casual? Full-service restaurants offering carry-out? Salads and low-carb meals as a large portion of quick-serve restaurant menus? People paying $2 for “breath strips”? Consider that last one. The company didn’t try to make their mouthwash 1 percent better than the competition—they created a new market for their product.

Oil Change Guys History; Part IV
One trait of franchisors and something you will find in all their biographies both; official and unofficial is their competitiveness and refusal to give up. Loyalty is Heartfelt
In banking and investing and insurance, many thousands of service-minded people enjoy client loyalty. Yet, most labour under a false basic assumption about why clients are loyal to them or their institution, rather than competitors. What really generates loyalty is warmth. The dominant view of loyalty in financial services equates loyalty with simple continuity of service. “If they keep on dealing with you, that means they’re loyal.” This makes sense, but it lacks a basic understanding of what motivates people to be loyal. This view also supposes that people
