With so many different programs, and reruns and re-packaging of older programs, we can assume there are few people on the planet who do not know about Bob Vila. Starting with the original "This Ol’ House" programs on PBS in 1979, Bob Vila and his empire, have grown into a major force in the Home Improvement Television genre.

The professional salesperson can learn a whole lot more from Bob Vila than how to screet concrete or put mud on the drywall.

Bob Vila is a study in brand awareness. Bob is the brand. The challenge was getting people to recognize, and ultimately respect Bob Vila, as THE home improvement expert. Whatever he did before that first TV program is inconsequential as is whether or not he can saw a board of drive a nail (something he does verl little of on his show).

Document shredders can prevent the leaking of secrets of business. They can be used to shred personal checks, expired licenses, bank statements, receipts of all kinds and medical records. The selection of document shredders depends on the level of security.Document shredders consist of a pair of rotating blades, a paper comber, and a motor. Document i

2007 Philosophical Business Question; Why Are People So Untrusting?
Have you ever noticed how untrusting people are? What is the cause of all this? Is it the media scaring people into believing that everyone is a scam artist? Is it the government causing mistrust amongst the masses to further propel law enforcement agencies, which in turn make more rules and regulations to control? Is it the Internet where everyone runs around using a false “pen name” as they practice deceit?Recently, I was discussing some possible ideas for someone who wished to start their own business. They asked me some qu

    Management, Change and... Stakeholders
Stakeholders are those groups of people or institutions that have a stake in your company (where you are not always aware of). There are many general theories about stakeholder management and methods to implement. When dealing with change, a simple stakeholder “view” could help you in controlling the change.Such a view will look like a spider. It shows the contexts of your organization (the core) and the legs of the spider are pointing to the stakeholders. In the view below, the spider lost one leg: Clients (B

Things to Remember at Your Next Trade Show
Trade Show Regulations Every trade show venue has its own unique set of regulations. Larger convention centers have extremely strict regulations to prevent large scale disasters like fires and explosions, but even smaller trade shows will usually regulate the size of your booth, your shipping crate/case, and what kind of lights you can use. Before you attend your next trade show or convention, be sure to check the regulations for the particular show that you are going to attend, and make sure your trade show display meets the gu

Now Bob has "Home Again with Bob Vila", "Bob Vila’s Guide to Historic Homes" and others plus specials, books and tapes and even "Bob Vila’s Home Design" series on two CD’s (handsomely packaged, of course). They are recycling the first PBS shows and calling them "This Ol’ House Classics". Bob is a TV pitchman, too. He sells credit card debt reduction and every product Sears can come up with, plus a closet full of books and videos.

This didn’t happen by accident, but by clever design. The design element continues today, every time you see him on the tube. How did he do it? Simple, all he did was tell all the people on TV to call him by name, over and over. A lot like subliminal advertising. You don’t realize you are getting the message. A typical segment of any of his programs, past or present, might go like this:

Bob: Today on our show, Fred Murtz is going to show us how to cut a board with a handsaw. Welcome to our show Fred.

Fred: Thanks, Bob, glad to be here.
