    Shocked By Learning
One day in fourth grade, a bad snow storm led me down into the basement to play football. Eventually, a bad toss sent the football smashing into the light bulb attached to one of the rafters. The glass had broken away, but the guts of the light bulb remained stuck in the socket. With no way to remove the shattered light bulb, I called my mother at work and asked her what to do. She told me to cut a potato in half and wedge the flat end of the potato into the light bulb to simply twist the remainder out of the socket.Unable to reach the ceiling, I scooted a chair directly beneath the light fixture. With homemade potato tool in hand, I climbed up on the chair. I reached up to do exactly what I was instructed, but when the potato touched the broken bulb, I was violently thrown from the chair. vivid picture of the future is an important step in creating a future that is better than today. How to Excel at a Televised Interview
Public relations are about communication as a whole. In order to get positive publicity out of a televised opportunity, one should consider every detail from the first to last impression. The publicity’s outcome can spin in any direction-- and it all depends on the show’s viewers. Winning an audience is not just about being entertaining or informative. The guest needs to establish a bond with the host, the audience and the viewers. The situation is largely psychological. Here are some factors that go into a good TV interview:•You need to be yourself—and show genuine emotion. If you are acting fake, it is very likely to come through to the audience. If people see you as fake, you lose credibility and the publicity is deemed useless. •Body language is huge. You cannot look too relaxed or stiff. S

    Become An Aviation Pilot
If you love traveling, have a heart for adventure, and enjoy seeing cities from a vantage point high above the clouds, a career as an aviation pilot may be right for you. Thanks to growth in the aviation industry, job opportunities for pilots abound. In fact, aspiring pilots can find jobs with either commercial airlines or corporations that own their own private jets. With many of the military aviators of the Vietnam War era retiring, industry observers are actually predicting a shortage of pilots in the years ahead. It was once thought that few people could succeed as pilots—but nothing could be further from the truth. Research indicates that as many as 90 percent of the public has the aptitude to learn to pilot an aircraft. In other words, becoming a pilot may be easier than you realize.Of

B2B Direct Mail Lead Generation Success Needs Planning, Testing, Measuring
Is Direct Mail Useless for DMers? Is direct mail useless at helping direct mail businesses generate leads? That’s the question I was asked last week by a reader of Alan Sharpe’s B2B Direct Mail Tactics newsletter. Here is her unusual challenge, and my response. “My biggest challenge in generating leads from direct mail is to convince our marketing people that direct mail should be used. This is a completely ironic situation given that we are a DIRECT MAIL HOUSE. Yes, that’s right. I’ve been told that ‘direct mail is not good for our business.’“Apparently, direct mail was tried once long ago and had a bad response rate. Our other lead generation methods include sales outreach activities (prospecting, networking, etc.) and community involvement -
