Real Estate Marketing Online -- Are You Capturing Leads Or Losing Visitors?
In April of 2005, I conducted a survey of more than 250 real estate marketing websites. These were not corporate websites -- they were the personal marketing websites of individual agents. What shocked me was that the majority of these websites (nearly 65%) had no way to capture the email addresses of visitors. I'm assuming the owners of these sites expected visitors to contact them immediately upon visiting. But that's too he

Teamwork can be demonstrated, not dictated, by management. However, if guidance is lacking, leadership and commitment can be developed from within the team. Integrity, support, collaboration and communication can develop an effective team with coworkers, suppliers, vendors, contractors and professional associates regardless of position or title.

Are You A Coward? I Was
Over the last month, I have come to hate emails and answerphones; not because I get 100 emails every day but because emails and answerphones are fast becoming the tool of the coward. At Beyond Philosophy we worked with a client a while ago whose account managers and sales teams never used to speak to anyone! They just used to send emails. If the customer called in they were greeted by answerphones which were kept on all day. You see the s
Football fanatics will be familiar with the style of Super Bowl Champion Coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick. In an era when many football teams relied heavily on the performance of a few outstanding players, Bill Belichick built a talented and cohesive team. While opponents fates rose and fell with the performance of individual athletes, Bill earned press coverage for placing a draft pick on the bench for lack of teamwork. When opponents introduced the starting line-up of individual players at the beginning of the game, Bill insisted that his players approach the field together as a team. As individual players coped with injury or illness, the team adapted, supported changing players skills, and helped one another on the road to the victory. Rather then seek personal fame, the players embraced the dedication and commitment to teamwork. Winning and losing as a team was more important than individual blame or praise, and as a result they won the highest honor in football.

"The days of he lone ranger manager who thinks that everyone else is my rival are over," says Richard Antoine, Global Human Resource Officer for Proctor & Gamble. "Individual performance still matters, but you won't perform well in this complex world if you aren't collaborating with and getting help from lots of people." Proctor & Gamble does more than encourage teamwork, employee collaboration is a substantial portion of the annual performance review process. "Leadership is on the list of the top ten qualities we look for, but so is the ability to build diverse and collaborative relationships," says Richard Antoine.

Cisco Systems, leading manufacturer of computer network equipment, uses teamwork and collaboration as a factor in the formula for computing management bonuses since 2003. Teamwork and collaboration can impact a managers bonus as much as 20%. Diane Adams, Vice President of Human Resources at Cisco, attributes teamwork to "dramatically improving productivity and helping us grow".

Are you competing internally to build your own reputation, or would you be willing to make personal sacrifice for the good of the team? Can you count on the rest of your team? Who is going to make the first move toward total team commitment, and are you willing to invest the time that it takes to achieve it?

"The idea is for the team leader to be at the service of the group. It should be clear that the team members own the outcome. The leader is there to bring intellectual, emotional, and spiritual resources to the team. Through his or her own actions, the leader should be able to show the other how to think about the work that they're doing in the context of their lives. It's a tall order, but the best teams have such leaders." - Franklin Jonah, President, Jonah & DiMeo Inc
