A friend is going to set up a booth in a roadshow selling T-Shirts, and he asked for some tips to increase his sales. On top of the standard promotional stuffs like dressing up the booth, having great salespeople, distributing flyers around the booths etc, I thought I'd share some other strategies you can apply if you are going to do some roadshows. Here they are:- Are you doing this with potential for long term, repeat business? Businesses That Give Back to the Community
So, why are you in business? If you answered, to make money, you’ve got it all wrong. That may be one of your reasons, but it shouldn’t be the main goal. You might think I’m crazy, but hear me out. To begin with, you be wondering what makes me qualified to judge your business? Fine, I’ll tell you.As a professional marketing consultant with a degree in advertising, I’ve been advising businesses since opening my own advertising agency in 1976. That adds up to three decades and about 7000 businesses. During that time, I learned what it takes to keep a company running. Therefore, with those credentials under my belt, please allow me to pass on a few words of wi
Do you own a small business and want to make it an absolute success?

Then you’ve come to the right place!

You see, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many fellow small business owners and I’ve been able to help them make millions of dollars in increased revenue in my time with them.

Over that time I’ve found that most small business owners are usually missing some of the most fundamental things in their business.

Here are just 7 fundamental things that will make your offline business an absolute success…

Tip #1 - ‘Indirect’ Marketing – Now before you roll your eyes and scream, “Oh gosh not another one!” Hear me out. First of all your marketing is not just your flyers, ads or sales pieces, but rather things like adding copy to the back of your business cards, the presentation of your products, how your employees speak to your customers, how your business smells (yes I said “how your business smells”), what your office looks like, how you dress and how you reward your customers. There are so many things I can tell you but, all of these things I mentioned will only give you more word-of-mouth and free advertising. Nothing beats having a REAL person say that you are the best thing since sliced bread!

    How to Succeed in Business
Every one has their own definition of success. My definition of success is to be happy while working at something I believe in and am passionate about. Here are six steps I use to achieve my definition of success.Freedom - If you don't live in a country with freedom to pursue a living as you see fit, success would be difficult by my standards. I am thankful to live in a country that provides me the freedom to choose my living. Many people do not have the freedom to seek out their own business, so it seems that one must first become free to succeed in business.Persistence - An idea with no motion may as well have never been. No one else will ever know

What Is Most Important - Copy Or Pic?
When, some little time ago now, I first descended upon the advertising scene, we were a good deal more concerned than most people seem to be today about the nature of the business we found ourselves in. We were always holding debates – in the saloon bar of the Coach & Horses in New Bond Street, to be tiresomely precise – about the meaning of advertising, the significance of advertising, and the past, present and future of advertising. And an unconscionably serious lot we no doubt were. Not to mention drunk.Among the hardy perennials of our debates was the relevance of sex in advertising, and also the question of whether the copy element in ads was more impor

    Strategic Planning- Resistance is Futile!
When preparing for the future, credit union CEOs will encounter people who dig in their heels and resist change because they want to keep things exactly how they have been for years. Some of these people will be credit union board members, and some will be in the managerial ranks. The key for the CEO looking to make his or her credit union a stronger entity in drastically changing times is to work for a critical mass of buy in.The best approach, I call the "Compelling Argument" initiative, is a constant drip approach instead of a last minute tidal wave of information approach. Here is how it works. The greatest reason for change resistance is fear. The

5 Tips On Getting Your Customers To Love You
Yesterday, I received a letter in the mail and it was not a bill or a fake advertising letter. It was a genuine letter with a label and a sticker and a handwritten address. I was a little surprised, as I have not received a written letter in years. As I opened it, I realized the name looked vaguely familiar, but I could not place it. As I scanned this beautifully written letter, I realize it was from a difficult customer who 2 months early was writing something of a different tone. The letter which was 2 pages, thanked me for resolving her problems so quickly and she went on ( and this is no joke) for about 2 pages on how in "love" she is with my product. So here a

Tip #2 – Sales & Marketing – Okay now here’s the scoop here…You see many entrepreneurs often mistake these two as some interchangeable term and they’re absolutely WRONG! Listen let me make it simple for you so don’t do the same thing. Marketing is the process of generating leads or traffic to your store, phone calls to your office or a list of people interested in your product or service. Sales is the actual act of persuading the customer and collecting the money for your product or service. Your sales force is not your marketing team and the two should not be confused. However, their success or lack of success in treating your prospects and customers with care and respect will resonate throughout your business.

Tip #3 - Website – In this day and age, for a person not to have a fully functional website that helps them to build relationships and drive more sales through their business; completely blows my mind! The potential for people to create loads of increased revenue is tremendous, just by forming an online relationship with their current customers through email. You can literally run a special and send out an email to your current customers notifying them of it and be sol
