Where Does That Word Come From?
“Instead of a handshake, I gave Toby a high-five to break the ice; and when we sat down on the front porch and started talking off the cuff, it was as if serendipity brought us together.”That sentence contains several words and actions you see and hear every day. But have you ever wondered where some of our most common communication-related terms come from?Handshake We do it every day – sometimes 20 times a day. But how many of us actually know where the handshake originated? According to author/speaker Melvin Murphy, “The handshake has origins more anthropological than historical. Men used to carry knives, spears and rocks. And when land was scarce, males would extend their hand to show that they were not attempting to kill their neighbor.”“Furthermore, the classi
One of the tragedies of modern civilization is that many people are corralled into doing jobs or pursuing careers that don't fulfill them. Society has a way of forcing us to choose between surviving and expressing ourselves creatively. Some lucky ones seem to make the right decisions or meet the right people. They have a level of talent that gets them noticed and paid to do what they love. Though they're far and few between, they represent a light of hope (or despair) for the rest of us that struggle with this issue.

The road to "success" in any field is littered with the dashed hopes of multitudes that never really "made it". Truth is, not everyone can become a famous, or even a paid actor. Very few of us have been able to write the successful novel or non fiction book and earn a living. How many would be musicians make a reliable living on the stage?

OK, so you love animals. You could go to school for all those years and become a veterinarian doctor. But if that's not your thing, then what?

Do not despair because believe it or not, for people who take advantage of it, the world wide web is teeming with opportunities. What never ceases to amaze me is the absolute magnitude of the Internet. Every subject I research is teeming with millions and millions of interested people. For every subject there is a group of devoted humans that relate to it.

So, you ask: "How do I take advantage of this wide open opportunity?" It's easier than you think. First, you don't even need a formal education, you don't have to know someone in the business. You don't even have to know much about what you may want to do. You only need heart, savvy and guts. Heart you already have if you are passionate about anything at all. Savvy you can learn, and you can develop "guts".

What do you really Love to do? If you can come up with activities or hobbies or an interest that grabs your attention and juices you up, you have what it takes to earn a living on the Internet. I know this is a bold statement, but trust me, many people are finding the way to their personal fulfilling careers doing what they love on the net. Self Actualization really is within reach. What most people lack are only three things.

Your Fees - It's About Value - Not Time
"It's different here. Businesses here won't pay what they'll pay in ________". You fill in the blank. Have you heard that one? If I've heard it once I've heard it a hundred times. And to some extent, the statement is true. Every place is different. Businesses are made up of people and every person is different. However, if you have done your homework, if you've developed a level of trust with your client and if your client - wherever you are - perceives your product or service to provide the same value that clients in ____________ perceive, you can charge the same as you can in _____________. If your clients won't pay what you think your product or service is worth and you're blaming them - you're blaming the person. Your clients make buy

Forgotten Point of Sale System Features - Cash In Drawer Limits
This feature has been around since I started in the cash register business some 25+ years ago. I haven’t heard POS salespeople talk about this for over a decade and if it isn’t being used in your business you are opening yourself up for theft and possibly armed robbery of your business. All cash registers and point of sale systems track sales and tenders. They all know how much money, checks, gift cards, credit cards and other forms of payment are in each cash drawer/till.Most cash registers and a few point of sale software companies have the ability to set a limit on how much cash should be in each cash drawer/till. When this limit is reached the cashier is notified and then can notify management to do a cash pull from the drawer. Some systems go as far as sending a message via pager/ce

You can start right now. You probably already have. Just start researching your hobby. Find websites that feature your particular interest. Notice how many of them have a partner or affiliate program. Find blogs where someone is writing about your niche. Notice how many people read the blog and how many comments are made. Find discussion groups where people are talking about your subject. Notice how many there are.

Now take note of all these sites and blogs and groups and look for the money trail. See the products that are being offered. Look at the Google adds, the other adds, the featured e-books and products. People like you are buying this stuff and clicking these adds. There is a system taking place. Someone is earning money, or the adds and products would not exist. Finding your door into this system is what you need to work out. That takes savvy.

    2. Savvy: The knowledge of how to do it. The tricks of the trade. Learning the ropes. Most of us don't really understand the many practical and technical aspects of setting up a "Self Actualizing Internet Business". Especially for someone who is more of a creative type, the task of learning technical necessities can cause us to shrink back and say "Whats the use"? I don't want to mislead you, there is a learning curve. But with the Internet learning is easier than it's ever been.

There's a wealth of information out there that will teach you various aspects of how to earn money on the net. A simple search will give you thousands. But, be careful. You could end up representing one of those dashed hopes littering the road to success. There are lots of "sharks" in the Internet ocean. Sales hype is rampant. You could end up buying many books and programs before you find what you need. I went this route and it took me 5 years to sort through the chaff. The main piece of advice I will give here is: Avoid the over hyped product. Thoroughly research the product before you buy. Make sure it fits you.

You can easily find help. There are tons of websites that offer free help. Wikipedia, Answer dot com etc. Just search and ask if you have a lack of knowledge or a question.

You can hire out what you don't want to tackle. This is called "out tasking". Look up "freelance ______" (you fill in the blank). You will find someone to do your
