Date Stamps RIGHT: 0px">· different management styles Affixing dates on documents is a crucial procedure in inward and outward departments of government agencies and other offices because, at times, there are legal implications associated with such dates. Writing dates manually on a large bunch of documents is labor intensive. Such a task is also monotonous, and therefore prone to human errors. Date stamp is a mechanical device used to address these problems.Traditional date stamps are made up of six or eight flat rubber bands loaded on a support pulley system that is attached to a wooden knob for holding the stamp. Ten single digit numbers, i.e., 0 to 9, are carved over the length of each band. Engravings are oriented in such a fashion that they can be used in combination with numbers on adjacent bands to represent date, month, and year. The support pulley system facilitates rotation of these bands so that required date can be positioned at an end exactly opposite to the top of the knob. An inkpad is used to wet the required date embossing, which is then positioned on the document and pressed slightly to get the imprint.Self-inking versions of date stamps with plastic caps are also available in the market. Additional dies for words like "Confidential", "Copy", "Draft", etc., are also being attached to date stamps. Such additional words and phrases help in tracing documents. Some stamps also have addresses based on specific requirements.Recent developments include electronic date stamps. Operators using manual date stamps have to rotate the bands and pre-check the positioned date on a waste paper. This is necessary because embossed numbers do not resemble normal numbers. Approval usually comes when my perceptions of your behavior match my assumptions of how I think you should behave. It's time to stop shoulding on each other and begin to ACCEPT each other with our differences. This doesn't mean we always have to agree with each other; just accept.
It might have been your best friend, your partner, your boss, your brother or even your lover. It burns deep inside. You can’t sleep for the anger, the shock and dismay. You may find yourself still not believing it’s happened to you. But it has! When those we have entrusted with our money, our plans, our strategies, our loyalty or even our love betray us, we feel violated deep inside. We feel crushed. We wonder if we can ever recover from this.It is at this moment of realization that you will make some of the most important decisions of your entire life. The three most critical choices you will make – whether you realize it or not are: (1) what to focus on; (2) what to believe; and (3) what to expect from this point forward. These three choices will determine the final impact this betrayal has on your life.A LESSON FROM MICKEYMost people don’t know that Walt Disney suffered a great business defeat early in his career. While living and working out of his uncle’s garage, Walt Disney had created a cartoon character called “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” and signed a contract with Universal Studios to create animated short films about the little fury critter that would be shown before the main feature film at theaters. The short films enjoyed great success, but in his youth and naivete, Walt did not realize that he had signed away the rights to the character. When his contract came up for renewal, Universal Studios refused to renew the contract and announced that it owned the exclusive rights to produce films using “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit.” Walt was devastated.Starting over from scratch, Walt desperately needed to come up wi People perceive things differently due to differences in cultural/ethnic background, personal experiences, personality styles, gender differences, attitudes and beliefs, etc. This diversity may impact our ability to communicate with each other. A recent survey conducted by the National Association of Manufacturers revealed that one third of manufacturing companies in the United States have good jobs going unfilled due to a lack of qualified applicants. As the labor shortage looms, here are 4 ways that guarantee you attract top talent with your employee benefits.Benchmark the CompetitionBenchmarking your competitor's employee benefits should be your first objective. Strategic positioning of your benefits in the competitive landscape should help retain your key talent, attract employees from your competitors, and ensure a maximum return on investment. While this may sound like a huge task, benchmarking data can be found through national employee benefits associations such as the United Benefit Advisors. I'm getting really nervous with the daily security threats that abound in the news. People forget that packaging has an important role to play in helping keep our products safe for consumption. Remember the Tylenol packaging incident? Many packaging applications, such as the tamper evident seal and the shrink wrap band, were invented as a result of that incident. Frighteningly, a major concern should be our food supply. One bio-terrorism incident in our food supply could be a thousand times more deadly than 9/11.Packaging is starting to get some media play on this topic. I just read an article that tied packaging to the bird flu. Really! Stay tuned next week for "How Packaging Causes Global Warming." I am just kidding. But let’s get serious. There are some pretty important ways that packaging impacts our product security. In fact, I recently wrote about it in my 13 Packaging Trends for 06. The premise is that keeping products secure will be one of the most important influences on purchasing in the future.Smart or intelligent packaging has an important role to play in protecting the public. New innovations are surfacing every day. As an example, I spoke about TTI's (time-temperature indicators) at the recent Marketing to Women Conference. It is amazing how this product security enhancement impacts the purchasing decision of the female consumer. Some other exciting things I have read recently about how packaging can protect us include . . .• A Canadian-based company's Toxin Guard is a system of placing antibody-based tests on polymer packaging films to detect pathogens or other selected micro organisms.
