Boundless Enthusiasm Does Not Pay The Bills
The biggest mistake I see new home business owners make is jumping in with boundless enthusiasm and absolutely no life jacket. It is great to be excited about a new business or business opportunity, even to share it with everyone you meet. But it is absolutely crazy to quit your day job because you've found the network marketing
Niches and targeting are two very important parts to maximizing your profits with your money making venture. I don’t think an online business or a regular brick and mortar business can survive without them. Targeting and niches actually go hand in hand, targeting will help you find your niche and your niche will help you find your targets.

Finding your niche is very important. Niches are sort of like the category of your money making venture. Vegetarians, Baseball, Poker etc are all considered niches. This niches can also be broken down into smaller categories like vegetarian recipes, Spalding baseball, Texas Holdem poker and so on. The reason why it is important to find a niche is for keyword selection, ad placement and so on. You wouldn’t advertise your Spalding baseball to a poker enthusiasts, you would however advertise to a baseball enthusiasts. A good example of this is television commercials. Lets say the toy company Mattel comes out with a new doll, Mattel's Niche would be toys and the target would be children, so they would advertise their new doll during lets say, cartoons. It wouldn’t be wise to air the commercial during an episode of Law & Order, why because their targeted audience isn’t there. Your target is basically the customer you are focusing on. Children, teens, college students, baseball enthusiast, business opportunity seekers etc are all considered targets.

The reason why it’s important to know your Target audience and Niche now is so you can gear up your business in that direction. A lot of people think that any traffic is good traffic, this is definitely not the case, targeted traffic is the way to go. With targeted traffic every visitor is an interested visitor, broad traffic visitors usually are just curious and browsing. It is much easier to convert an interested visitor into a sale then it is to convert an uninterested visitor. Also when you advertise using Pay-Per-Click trying to just get any traffic will be very costly because remember every click costs you money. Niches and Targeting will also help with cross-promotion.
