So, if they send out 100 million emails announcing you have money owed, and only 10,000 respond; well you do the math. It’s a true numbers game.

They simply want you to log back in. Then they have what they need and that’s just using email.

Ebay is another great place to be ripped-off as well. Most people there are honest but beware of anyone not accepting credit cards or PayPal. If they require a personal check to clear or certified funds only, there’s a good reason. But sometimes it works the other way. Suppose you are the seller have an item listed. The buyer says they will offer to send a certified check to insure you get the money. Let’s say your item for sale is worth $150 and they buy it now. But, by error, they send a $450 “certified check” and ask you to refund the difference. A few weeks later, your bank informs you that their check was bogus, and you are out the item AND $300. Clever, huh?

In that event or with a myriad of other bogus situations, it stands to reason you have to educate yourself and take charge of your own part of the Internet world.
