E-Commerce - How To Prevent Download Theft
If you sell digital products online, you are probably already familiar with the growing problem of your e-books, etc. being stolen. This is how it works and how you can prevent it.A visitor to your site buys your product; for example an e-book. Soon after downloading her purchase, she visits a forum and supplies the link to the page containing your download information to all the members. Before you know it, thousands of people are downloading your e-book! These people are stealing from you and you are unaware of your loss! Many of these would have bought your e-book, so you could have lost hundreds of dollars!Or take another case. You set up your sales page using PayPal. Now your simple PayPal button script is visible on your sales page if some
are really cheap to build and cost virtually nothing to maintain. Or do they?

Let's have a look at what is involved and the typical costs:

First, you will need a telephone line. No problem. Most people have them. The cost is variable depending on what country you live in.

Next, you will need a computer. Again, no problem, most people have them too. They

A Career in the Life of Crime
They often say crime does not pay and indeed there are numerous examples of this. There are also examples of careers in crime, which do pay, well at least for a while. For instance there is the bank robber who lives quite well for a little while with literally money to burn and then after his short career gets to retire with full benefits and live in a gated community; Prison. Well not exactly the career, pension or retirement at the golf course you had in mind is it?You see a career in crime can pay off if you are lucky and talented but in the end it is not a very good career choice even though retirement does come with free food, laundry service and boarding. Occasionally, we hear stories of criminals who have made a life of crime and gotten away with it for a lo
Having a website can be a wonderful experience. I have experienced the joy of owning and operating a brilliant website built and hosted by a genius. I have also experienced the misery of owning a lousy website hosted by notorious scammers. So I have seen websites from both ends of the spectrum.

This article is to apprise everybody of the costs associated with building and operating a commercial website. There are millions of web-surfers who seem to believe that everything they see on a website should be available free of charge. This will set the record straight so these people get some appreciation of the costs involved to bring information to them. (Note: The rates will vary from provider to provider).

First, a distinction - there are two basic types of websites:

    1. Personal - mum and dad type sites - several pages of "family" style information
    2. Commercial - business sites - from one page "sales letter" sites to massive sites of several hundred pages.

For the purpose of this discussion I am going to limit my comments to commercial websites only.

A commercial website has been described as the great business leveller. You see, small businesses can compete on an even playing field with giant multi-national companies in what have been described as "niche" markets. That is, specialist markets.

As I mentioned before, so many web-surfers expect all websites to deliver completely free information to them. After all, websites are really cheap to build and cost virtually nothing to maintain. Or do they?

Customer Loyalty – The Key to Business Success
Talk to many business people about how they approach customer service and the majority of them will say that they are aiming to have ‘satisfied’ customers. No! What we all should be seeking is to have loyal customers.Research has shown that 65% of customers say they are loyal. You may be happy with this but you shouldn’t! Satisfied customers are in a state of nothing – they are neither issatisfied or happy; they are in between. They will tolerate you while you are of use to them but if a better deal comes along, they’re off.On the other hand, loyal customers are your friends. They will be with you through thick and thin; they will be the first to try out you new product; they willing give you honest feedback; they will regularly refer business to you. This i

    Stadium Lights Responding to Fans
Sports stadium fans go to the events for the ambience and experience. Indeed, one with a large screen television would have a better view of what happened, along with slow-motion replays and zoom lenses. But we all agree it is not the same. Yet as sports figures salaries increase that means the cost of the tickets go up as well. These are issues for sports fans and this is without mentioning getting the SUV to the event considering the $3.00 plus per gallon. In fact one recent executive working for a large plasma screen TV manufacturing corporation said that for the price of two-visits to a sports game with your son, you could have already paid for the High Definition screen and the speakers to the surround sound. Of course if you live in New Orleans, Louisiana you could

Market Research: Common Business Issues and Their Respective Research Methods
Sizing a Market - This type of market research is designed to create an estimate of the market size (measured by units or dollar volume) that a new product is expected to garner in the marketplace. In general this is usually done for entirely new product category or anticipating the introduction of a new product that substantially changes the competitive landscape in which customers are already familiar (for example, I would suspect that the new premium chewing-gum category that has emerged in the last 18 months might have upset the conventional wisdom of analysts in that industry). Conducting this type of market research can be expensive, so the best place to start is usually by evaluating the off-the-shelf syndicated market research reports that are available for any ma

Let's have a look at what is involved and the typical costs:

First, you will need a telephone line. No problem. Most people have them. The cost is variable depending on what country you live in.

Next, you will need a computer. Again, no problem, most people have them too. They can range from several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars US depending on the make and model, its capacity, its range of features and the like.

With a telephone line and a computer you will then require an Internet Service Provider (ISP). An ISP will charge around US$20 per month for internet access. Broadband access will cost around US$750 per year, depending on your ISP.

Note that so far we are still just incurring the cost that the average surfing information hunter incurs.

To have a website you will either need to build it yourself or contract a specialist to build it for you. Obviously, if you do not have the knowledge and ability to do it yourself you will need a person skilled in doing this. For 15 or so pages (a reasonable sized website) you could pay in the vicinity of $1,500 US, often more.

So, now you have a telephone line, a computer, internet access and a website. Is there anything else? There sure is.

You will need a domain name for your website. This is so you can be found by your Unique Resource Locator (URL) name. That is how people will be able to find you - via links to your www.domainname.com name. A domain name will cost you somewhere around US $10 to $20 per year to keep it registered.

Then there is hosting. You will need a website hosting company to keep your site active and online for all the world to view. This is where the site "lives." It's where it is domiciled and is able to be changed by addin
